Metz Métropole, on the way to a new certification

  • Metz Métropole, on the way to a new certification
After hosting the G7 Environment, Oceans and Energy event in May, certified ISO 20121, Metz Métropole is embarking on an ISO certification process for "responsible international destination". With the creation of the Inspire Metz agency, Metz Métropole is determined to become a host territory that limits its environmental footprint, contributes to social cohesion and promotes its local ecosystem.

The ISO 20121 standard will enable Metz Métropole to achieve these objectives. Bordeaux, Deauville, Biarritz, Nancy, Rennes, Nantes Cannes and Marseille are working with Metz on this pilot programme, which aims to obtain certification by the end of 2020.

This entreprise, initiated by France Congrès et Événement and the French Presidency of the G7 in partnership with Green Événements, was launched during the G7 Presidents' Meeting in Biarritz last August. A press conference was held in Deauville on 11th September 2019, during the Forum Innov&Tech de France Congrès, to present the common approach and objectives in the presence of representatives from the 9 destinations involved, including Metz Métropole.

The development agency Inspire Metz is leading this approach on behalf of Metz Métropole by involving local actors in leisure and business tourism.
