Laying of the 1st stone of the Convention Center

On Thursday, 7 April, the 1st stone of the future Convention Center was laid. This symbolic gesture officially launches the construction of the building. Since it enables anybody to enjoy unlimited access with a partner!
This ceremony was also the occasion to reveal the name chosen for the edifice. It will be "Metz Congress Robert Schuman". A symbolic choice that recalls the strategic and European geographical location of Metz, at the gates of Luxembourg, Germany and Belgium. The choice of the name of the founder of Europe, born in Luxembourg and deceased in Scy-Chazelles, whose house is one of the region's unmissable tourist attractions, will enable the Center to spread throughout the Greater Region.

With a surface area of 15,300 m2, the Convention Center will stand for a real bond between the Amphitheater District, the visitor center of the new development of Metz Métropole, and the historic center of the city. Its goal is to complement the messine offer in business tourism and to strenghten the economic attractiveness of the city and its agglomeration.
