As part of the region's "Sustainable Innovative Destination" label, awarded in May 2022 and steered by Inspire Metz's leisure and business tourism divisions, 4 partners are committed to this virtuous approach: Metz Eurometropole, Centre Pompidou-Metz, UMIH de Moselle and Metz Évènements.
This commitment is embodied in a partnership agreement between Inspire Metz and each partner, in which the latter describes the actions it is taking on various issues (economic, environmental, societal), to help make the region an Innovative and Sustainable Destination.
To illustrate this commitment and everyone's contribution, here are some of the actions taken by the Metz Eurometropole:
- In order to reinforce sustainable mobility in the region, and more specifically to encourage the use of sustainable transport, the Eurometropole is developing its bicycle plan. The véloroute is being developed in Moulins-lès-Metz, and work is underway on 3 major cycle paths (including avenue Foch and several sites in Metz). In addition, a new Vélomet' branch (a bicycle rental service developed by the Le Met' network) was inaugurated on May 13 on the Parvis des Droits de l'Homme in Metz. Last year, two sections of greenway were inaugurated between Saulny and Woippy and Marly and Pournoy-la-Chétive.
- another environmentally-friendly mode of transport developed and promoted by the Eurometropole: river shuttles. Created in 2022 and operating like a conventional bus line, Metz'O will serve more communes in 2023: Scy-Chazelles and Moulins-lès-Metz.
- finally, the3rd METTIS line, the Eurometropole's exclusive right-of-way transport system, will link Metz, Marly and Montigny-lès-Metz. This new generation of 24-meter-long vehicles will run on green hydrogen, and the line's green layout will include new bicycle lanes.
These actions are just a sample of those undertaken by Eurometropole's departments, and illustrate just a small part of what is undertaken and promoted through the Sustainable Innovative Destination label.
